Promotion: architects, designers and final-year architecture students are invited to submit their work to the Tile of Spain Awards 2022, which celebrates architecture and design projects using Spanish ceramics.
The annual competition aims to highlight outstanding projects while promoting Spanish-made ceramics used in international architecture and design.
The awards are divided into three categories: architecture, interior design and graduation project by an architecture student.
Previous winning projects included a gastrobar designed by Arantxa Manrique Arquitectes and a center for unaccompanied minor immigrants by Andrea Puebla Yubero.
The Tile of Spain Awards jury is made up of international architecture and design professionals and will be chaired by architect Eric Parry of Eric Parry Architects.
Cash prizes total €35,000. Winners in the architecture and interior design category will each receive €15,000, while the student winner will take home €5,000.
Last year, the first prize in the architecture category was awarded to the Studio d’Architectes MRM for the new headquarters of the Foundation for Employment in the Construction Sector of Valencia (FLCCV).
First prize in the interior design category was won by Estudio Vilablanch for Living in A Coderch, a residential restoration project in Barcelona, Spain.
The student project prize was awarded to designer Gonzalo López Elorriaga from the Madrid School of Architecture. Elorriaga’s proposal was for an amusement and recreation resort designed to revive a rural setting.
Entry to the awards is free and nominations are accepted until October 28, 2022. Projects must have been completed between January 2021 and October 2022.
The winners will be announced at the Cevisama fair in Valencia, which will be held from February 27 to March 3, 2023.
The event is organized by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Tile Manufacturers (ASCER) and is in its 21st edition. The sponsors for 2022 are Endesa, PortValencia and PwC España.
