Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has announced its roster of outstanding varsity athletes for the 2020-21 season. The Distinguished Scholar Athlete is a seventh-year award that honors the “best of the best” student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and study.
A total of nine Ball State programs had an honored representative, including four with multiple award recipients. The Cardinals led the MAC with four winners in football and two in women’s tennis.
The selection for the Distinguished Scholar Athlete included all student-athletes recognized as both All-MAC and Academic All-MAC from their respective sport, while maintaining a GPA of at least 3.50. Previously, a voting process among the sports representatives of the CMA faculty determined the selection of distinguished athletes. CMA members voted to change the recognition of Distinguished Athletes at the conference’s spring meetings in June 2019.
