Houston Home Decor Center Calls On Top Designers For A Memorable Fall Market

TTwice a year, the Decorative Center Houston hosts a cavalcade of interior designers, decorators and design enthusiasts for a day of inspiring presentations by some of the best in the business. The 2021 Fall Market was no exception with a plethora of activities celebrating the best in design.

“A Little Charm and a Lot of Comfort” was the theme of the presentations focused on decorating for comfort and enjoyment and home entertaining, whether for a crowd or an intimate group.

The main morning presentation, hosted by this writer, featured Rizzoli writers Cathy Kinkaid (The well-decorated house: making luxury habitable) and Ronda Carman (Hosting at home: inspirations from famous hosts). Kinkaid of Dallas and Carman, a resident of Houston, spoke at ease in discussing the ongoing projects. Kinkaid is excited to travel to Abu Dhabi for a royal installation while Carman puts the finishing touches on her upcoming book, The art of pantry cooking, to be released in 2022.

Following their program, the duo were celebrated with a book signing and intimate lunch hosted by Arsin Rug Gallery, a newcomer to the Decorative Center Houston.

The afternoon opening speech, moderated by PaperCity Editor-in-chief Anne Lee Phillips, featured respected designers Dennis Bracken, Meredith Ellis and Courtnay Elias, all tasked with completing one of the pieces at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, which premiered in September. The designers shared how they executed their visions to transform their spaces, awarded to designers by raffle, for one of design’s most celebrated moments. This event was sponsored by The Shade Store, exclusive designer of window treatments for the show house.

In addition to speeches, presentations continued throughout the day with designers including Benjamin Johnson discussing the 2022 color collection at Madeval, artist Jenny Lesser showcasing her art collection with cocktails at Dwell With Art , and Sandra Lucas and Sarah Eilers from Lucas / Eilers Design meet, greet and sign their book Expressive interiors: design and invite home.
